5 tips to tackle procrastination

We may procrastinate for different reasons – there is always an excuse to not do this task you drag because you think is below you

We may procrastinate for different reasons – there is always an excuse to not do this task you drag because you think is below you, because is boring, because you are waiting for the perfect timing or because you are convinced that you work better under pressure.

If you are a procrastinator (we all are in a certain degree), have a look at these 5 tips to start tackling it:

  1. Start with the smallest thing - it will be easier to carry on if you have overcome the initial blockage
  2. Focus on the benefits of getting the task done, not the task itself - how will you feel once it’s done?
  3. Break it down into small, feasible and scheduled tasks - even Mount Everest is climbed in several stages that are carefully planned!
  4. No more excuses - be honest with yourself, you may never be in the mood for starting it, but you still have to do it anyway!
  5. Plan rewards for every milestone - from a piece of chocolate to watching this Netflix series or having a glass of wine - your choice!
